"Fastest Growing" Cincinnati Business Transports Local Hiring to New Level

HAMILTON, Ohio, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- ODW Logistics and Transportation Services (LTS), a provider of supply chain management services, was named the fastest growing business among their revenue category ($10M-$50M) for 2009-2011 by the Cincinnati Business Courier in their annual Fast 55 listing, finishing second overall. As LTS has grown in revenue, they've also grown in the local job pool, adding 20 full-time jobs to the local economy at a time when other Southwestern Ohio businesses have cut jobs.

While Ohio's unemployment rate remains steady at 7.4 percent, it is local businesses like ODW that help drive that number down. Since the company started in May 2009, ODW LTS experienced a revenue growth of 1,275 percent and much of this growth is attributed to developing a talented staff. At ODW, most employees hold college degrees, and half of those employees hold graduate or advanced study equivalents from institutions such as Miami University, Xavier University and Ohio State University. Many of them come from a supply chain background and that has helped the company maintain its continued successes.

"At a time when many businesses are cutting back, we've been able to recruit talented and knowledgeable individuals in our industry who want to live and work in Southwestern Ohio," said John Guggenbiller, president of LTS. "Our goal is to attract the right workforce and keep them here so they can grow with us."

According to the Ohio Board of Regents, which oversees Ohio's colleges and universities, it is estimated that one in three Ohio college graduates leave the state within the first three years after graduation, because they cannot find suitable work. Despite the economy's hard-hitting impact on Ohio and the U.S., companies like ODW are working hard to create jobs in the area so more graduates will stay.

In order to give students opportunities to learn about growing businesses in Ohio, ODW partnered with Miami University - Oxford's Master of Business Administration program to offer unique internship experiences for the program's students. It is the real world, hands on experience that gives students the competitive edge they need when graduating in today's job market. Through partnerships like this, ODW can hire the talent they need to grow and retain skilled employees. The employment outlook for 2012 graduates is more positive than year's past, and companies like ODW need experienced students to fulfill the roles the supply chain industry's future demands.
