Panama Canal CEO and other experts in worldwide commerce to participate in May 2012 freight forwarder conference in San Antonio, Texas

Top logistics experts and business leaders from around the world will meet in San Antonio from May 13 to 16 to address worldwide trade and increased multi-modal transportation needs as the global economy continues to pick up momentum. Port San Antonio is hosting the event.

Organizers of the 2012 Conference by ALACAT, the Federation of National Associations of International Freight Forwarders and Logistics Operators of Latin America and the Caribbean, have rolled out a comprehensive agenda. Presentations will highlight industry priorities, including changing supply chain security needs, seaport challenges in the Americas, emerging intermodal corridors and opportunities for increased trade with China.

Speakers include Panama Canal Authority CEO Alberto Alemán Zubieta; Deputy Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Sergio Mújica; and Peter Mento, a leading international expert in supply chain security. Other speakers include business leaders, regulators and officials from the U.S., Latin America and Asia.

"In recent months the U.S. and other world economies have seen steady improvement-from increased consumer confidence to important energy discoveries," said Guillermo González, President of ALACAT. "Freight forwarders are the backbone of global trade, and the upcoming event is a very timely forum to explore ways in which an array of industries can better access new opportunities around the world."

Participation in the 2012 ALACAT conference is open to members and non-member attendees and exhibitors.
